Infrared Sauna FAQs
-
At The Queen of Detox we have a Sunlighten Sauna which utilises infrared heat therapy technology. Infrared saunas are an effective tool for natural healing, anti-ageing and prevention of a multitude of ailments. The heat and light of the sauna helps the body to release toxins such as environmental chemicals and heavy metals, allowing the body to restore, rebalance and rejuvenate .
-
Infrared saunas work on a cellular level and penetrate human tissue and raise the bodies core temperature, helping the body to detoxify. Traditional saunas heat the air and the internal cabin which causes your body to sweat as a natural mechanism to cool down. For this reason, infrared saunas are very gentle and allows them to be more effective at a more comfortable operating temperature. By raising the bodies core temperature infrared saunas produce a sweat composed of 20% toxins compared to only 3% toxins with a traditional sauna.

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing but we do suggest that you wear nothing. There are towels provided for this reason and the room door is lockable. Not wearing clothes or bathers helps your lymphatic system flow during the sauna session.
-
Infrared sauna sessions are typically between 30- and 45-minute sessions depending on the program. Our sessions go for 45mins, with the sauna already up to temperature on arrival.
-
This depends on your personal outcome and what you were hoping to achieve. If you are using the infrared sauna for a specific health reasons such as a cleanse or detoxification you may find a greater benefit from using the infrared sauna more frequently, 2 to 3 times a week. Infrared saunas are safe to use every day.

You do not need to bring anything specific with you for your session but please bring your filtered water along to drink during the session and a book if you like.

We don’t not offer a shower here at Queen of Detox to use after a sauna, however it is recommended to wait at least 30 minutes after your session before showering. Your body can continue to perspire for up to 30 minutes after an infrared sauna. It is best to have a shower when you get home to allow your body to naturally cool down. We do recommend showering when you get home to clean and remove old skin cells, toxins and sweat residue that’s risen to the surface of the skin during your session.
